The oil cooler is a device that accelerates the lubrication of the oil to keep it at a lower temperature. In a high-performance, high-power reinforced engine, an oil cooler must be installed due to a large heat load. The oil cooler is arranged in the lubricating oil circuit and works in the same way as the radiator.
The core of the air-cooled oil cooler consists of a number of cooling tubes and cooling plates that are used to cool the hot oil cooler cores while the car is running. Air-cooled oil coolers require good ventilation around, and it is difficult to ensure adequate ventilation in ordinary cars, which is rarely used. Most of these coolers are used in racing cars because of the high speed of the car and the large amount of cooling air.
The oil cooler is placed in the cooling water circuit, and the temperature of the cooling water is used to control the temperature of the lubricating oil. When the temperature of the lubricating oil is high, it is cooled by the cooling water. When the engine is started, the heat is absorbed from the cooling water to rapidly increase the temperature of the lubricating oil. The oil cooler consists of a shell made of aluminum alloy, a front cover, a back cover and a copper core tube. In order to enhance the cooling, a heat sink is placed outside the tube. The cooling water flows outside the tube, and the lubricating oil flows in the tube, and the two exchange heat. There is also a structure in which the oil flows outside the tube and the water flows in the tube.
